The Detectorist

Poetry by Becky Bye

Hoards of Treasure

Linger in buried depths

Tokens of sacrifice,

Ritual

Even death.

Stories lost?

Rediscovered?

Will fate allow,

Beneath centuries of footsteps

And the labour of ploughs.

Overlooked by many

Tempting to but a few;

The anticipation

Of that resounding beep

To bring history

Into view.

Becky Bye.

Becky started writing words when she realised that her view of the world was the only one that made sense. She has had several poems published and is currently working on a historical fiction novel about pirates. She is a queen of procrastination.

Becky has been a member of Storyslingers right from the early days.
