Poetry by Becky Bye

Unfurling shadows like poisonous darts

Blacken her soul and target her heart.

A warrior’s blood runs through her veins.

Beneath thunderstruck skies, Ancestral powers wane.

Spectral phantoms scream battle cries

Spilled blood rusts as snaps family ties.

The call of her wild burns strong and bright. Choreographed in shadow for the ultimate fight.

Dying ambers of fire claw at her throat

Talons of mirth attempting to choke.

Like the Phoenix from ash; again she shall rise, with the passing of time and turning of tides.

Becky Bye.

Becky started writing words when she realised that her view of the world was the only one that made sense. She has had several poems published and is currently working on a historical fiction novel about pirates. She is a queen of procrastination.

Becky has been a member of Storyslingers right from the early days.
